Success and Failure (or This Blog is Not Dead)

Success and failure exist in every decision.

Every decision is another opportunity to succeed.

Every success is the beginning of habit.

If we want to change to adopt new positive behavior we must accept that failure will occur.  In the beginning failure may happen often.  That is OK.

Behavioral change is not all or nothing.  It is a patient process.  Behavior is the sum of a lifetime of decisions.  No single decision defines it.

Every decisions is a NEW opportunity to become who we are called to be.

Each time we choose success we become closer to our desired behavior.

Did you fall off the wagon?  Well, get back on then.

Excellence

Excellence is in doing the little and repetitive things right.

Repetitive tasks such as making the bed or washing the dishes can seem unworthy of our time.

Through discipline, attitude, and mindfulness in pursuing perfection in doing our daily chores we create excellence in all that we do.

Focus

Achievement requires focus.

Distractions are everywhere.  They can’t be escaped. The most powerful ones reside in our mind.

Focus cuts through distractions. It doesn’t eliminate them.  It is impervious to them.

Eliminate external distractions and defeat internal distractions with focus.

How do we know what to focus on? This is wisdom. Wisdom comes from experience. Take from the experience of others.  Seek mentors. Read books. Stand on the shoulder of giants. Reach for new heights.

Taste of Tuesday Morning

Taste of Belgium Goetta & Egg Waffle Sandwich

Tuesday morning is becoming an indulgence for me when I drive downtown early to beat the traffic before weekly sales training starts.  Normally coffee holds me over while reading at Taste of Belgium on the corner of 12th and Vine.  A couple weeks ago the waitress put a menu in front of me.  I caught a glimpse of the goetta crepe and couldn’t get my mind off it.

This week it was the goetta & egg waffle sandwich.

Heres to next Tuesday!

Warm Blanket

Old vices feel like a warm blanket in the cold.

They envelope us with comfort.

Soon we feel naked without them.

Everyone relapses.

How do you get back on the path? The same way you got on it the first time. Take action now.

Snacks, sweets, nicotine, caffeine, sleeping-in, television, procrastination, over eating, skipping workouts, not reading, not working, not advancing, we may feel we are passed our old ways.  But they may return softly, comfortably, easily without focused intention to be the best version of ourselves.
